I am so thankful that one of my amazing teachers in elementary school taught me to make these cute Valentine boxes (to store all your valentine cards and candy). We had a riot decorating the boxes with sticky letters, princess stickers, superhero stickers, and heart cut-outs. These two just make me laugh sometimes. I should've videotaped them! But to that amazing teacher.....thanks MOM!

They often grab their stools and wait patiently (sometimes impatiently) by the window.....watching....waiting.........and then squeeling at the top of their lungs that "Daddy's HOME!" Very fun, and I love it.

We had a couple friends over for a little playdate on Blake's birthday. The kids had cupcakes and ice cream while the mommies enjoyed cups of warm coffee on a snowy day.....brrrr! One of the new games the kids got for Christmas is called, "Sneaky Snakes". The kids LOVE it. Grandma Bonnie came for a visit and the kids had a great time....sneaking to steal Grandma's snake pieces. Poor Grandma!

When we moved to the new house, one of the most exciting things (for the kids) was their new playset that was sold with the house. We feel so blessed with all of the "little extras" that came along with our new home. I can't wait for spring and summer to be here that we can be out all day long! The love to swing and look out their telescope. Pirates is often the name of the game!

We decided to celebrate some of our favorite people this year by giving Operation Christmas Child boxes, in honor of those in our lives who have taught us to give to others...from the heart. On December 12th, Leah had her second 1st day of preschool. She is now starting her second week at her new school and is very happy there. Her only disappointment about her new school is that her mother comes to pick her up every day....instead of the bus. She cries whenever she sees me. I think this is a good thing??????

How many people can you fit into a tiny little tent? Grandma Cindy and Grandpa John came the day after we moved into the new house and helped us get settled in. They were great entertainment for the kids so Erik and I could really focus on getting ourselves organized. Plus, Grandpa put up Christmas lights for us while Grandma and I made a HUGE target run. We're very grateful for their help and support our first weekend in our new house.

In celebration of the new house, we decided to have Christmas a little early at our house. It was a great idea to celebrate Christ's birth the night we moved into our new home. The kids were able to play with their new toys while we unpacked over the following several days. It made the transition just a bit easier....adding to the excitement and the kids have really adjusted well.

But, he's been given to me as a gift from the Father, and for that I am G R A T E F U L !!! I love the man in this picture (sigh again).....it's that fun look on his face right now that gets me every time. I love the way he laughs, I always have and I always will. He's a provider, he's an athlete, he's intelligent, he's hilarious, he's getting crotchety as he ages, he's kind-hearted, he's simple - yet complicated, he's mine, he's just plain terrific. We went to a little cupcake shop in town this morning for a special treat. Leah enjoyed a strawberry shortcake cupcake, Blake had a "dirt cupcake" complete with oreos and a worm (perfect for any little boy), Daddy had Reeses' Peanut Butter Cupcake, and mommy had a chocolate lovers cupcake....they were all divine! It was a nice change from the traditional cake.

None of this water is supposed to be here! The great Missouri River is just overflowing, and our little town is seeing the effects of it. Thankfully our home is secure....but there are many people who have been evacuated out of their homes and are living in a vacant college dormitory right now. Please keep these people in your prayers as life has given them new challenges to face.

The very bottom picture is of Cargill. You can see the plant in the center of the picture, beyond the water. The water is being held off inside of the plant for the most part, but at any given moment, it could be a disaster. Some employees could have really feet here in the next few days.

We had a blast playing in the water tonight. The grass was looking pretty dry in some spots, so as I decided to grab the hose and give the grass a drink, Leah decided we should have some fun in the process. Leah ran in, around, and through the spray from the hose for about a half hour. Blake was ticked off when I sprayed him the first time. He cried and hollered at me! But then, to show me he was Mr. Tough-Guy....he went and put on his bike helmet, came right up to me, and let me spray him to my heart's content....from face to feet, he was DRENCHED. This little boy is a riot, so is his big sister. I love 'em both!

Helping Mom

Leah is a great helper. Today was her first day doing the dishes...ALL the dishes for me. She did fantastic! Sometimes I forget how capable she is of doing jobs around the house. I really enjoy her company too. We made a tent tonight in the basement...just her and I. We tickled each other, snuggled, and played ponies. I've come to realize how precious my time is with her, and that before I know it, she'll be off to school. Thankfully she'll only be starting preschool in the fall. It'll be a good start to the next phase coming ahead....all day kindergarten in 2012! I'm so proud of her and how she's grown into such a beautiful little person, inside and out.

A new barn....

I had built a barn for Leah (many months ago) out of diaper boxes. It was big, she didn't play with it much, and so I finally decided this past Saturday that I would recycle it. She caught me! So....let's just say we had a great Sunday afternoon building her a new one. While Daddy is working on 300K construction, Mommy is working on $17.00 construction (it did have diapers in it at one time). Since this barn is much smaller, we had to really decorate so it would be appealing to Leah. She picked the pink and purple. Notice her dress! I think we have a theme.

Blake, Cadence, Jaden, (poor Maggie), Leah (suckin away on her thumb), and Sarah....all had a blast hanging out together while their mommies worked at a joint garage sale. Jaden and Cadence fell in love with Maggie and HAD to have their picture taken with her. Maggie loved the girls as well. She kept licking their faces....(gross, but sweet)!!!!

Blake and Stephen playing tea party. They were too funny. They'd make tea in one room, pack up their stuff, then go to another room and start all over again. This lasted for at least a half hour. They played well together during this game!

Ahhhh, and the princesses. Princess Leah and Princess Sarah loved combing their dolls' hair, changing their dresses, and just playing make believe together. These two are great friends!
